A Journey of Faith and Stewardship

When I accepted the call to serve as President and CEO of the Pension Boards–United Church of Christ, I did so with a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility. For 14 years, I served as Chief Investment Officer, stewarding the financial resources that support your ministries. But before that, I was shaped by my training in divinity and pastoral care—experiences that continue to inform how I lead today.

I know what it means to walk alongside people in ministry. I know the joys and the burdens, the sacred trust and the very human needs. And I believe that financial wellbeing is not separate from spiritual wellbeing—it’s part of the same whole.

A Team That Serves with Purpose

I’m not doing this work alone. I’m surrounded by a diverse and deeply committed team at the Pension Boards. Like you, we bring different gifts and experiences to the table. Together, we are focused on one thing: strengthening the foundation from which you serve.

That means offering more than just benefits. It means providing stability in uncertain times. It means listening, adapting, and walking with you through every season of ministry.

We do this because ministry matters. Every conversation, every connection, and every resource we offer is rooted in our commitment to walk alongside those who serve—because your calling deserves care, support, and community.

Supporting Your Ministry, Holistically

We know that ministry is demanding. That’s why we’ve built a comprehensive support system to help sustain you—body, mind, and spirit. We offer:

  • Essential ministerial resources including grants, low-interest loans to ease debt burdens, and education that supports financial security and leadership development
  • A strong, sustainable retirement plan that stays true to our values through faith-based investing and comprehensive health benefits that care for the whole person

These aren’t just programs—they’re expressions of our commitment to your wellbeing.

Honoring Legacy, Investing in Tomorrow

Ministry doesn’t end with retirement—it evolves. That’s why we remain deeply connected to more than 6,000 retired clergy, missionaries, and their spouses or partners through a ministry of presence and care. This work is carried forward by 140 retired clergy who serve as compassionate visitors and ambassadors, offering support, encouragement, and heartfelt appreciation for a lifetime of faithful service. It’s one of the most meaningful things we do.

We’re also looking ahead. Over the past year, we’ve partnered with the National Setting in the Together for Tomorrow campaign, a shared legacy campaign for the benefit of the United Church of Christ.

  • Legacy gifts made as part of Together for Tomorrow benefit the National Ministries, The Christmas Forever Fund, and UCC’s Conferences, Associations, and local churches.

Listening, Learning, and Growing Together

We know we haven’t always gotten everything right. As our systems and services evolve, to stay ahead of a rapidly changing world, there are bumps in the road. But I want you to know we’re listening, we’re learning, and we’re committed to prioritizing the needs of ministry.

We may be a 112-year-old organization, but we are not stuck in the past. We are looking forward—toward innovation, compassion, and deeper service.

If you’re attending Synod, I hope you’ll stop by our booth. Come talk with us. Ask questions. Share your story. We want to hear from you.

And whether we see you there or not, I hope you’ll take time with this inaugural edition of Evercall (Coming Soon!)—a PBUCC magazine that explores how individuals and institutions can establish deep, resilient foundations—because of ministry, and for the sake of ministry—to sustain faithful service and justice-driven leadership today and into the future. It’s one more way we’re inviting you to go deeper.

Because at the end of the day, we’re not just your benefits provider. We’re your partner in ministry. And we’re here to help you build a foundation that will carry you—and the church—into the future.

Heading to Synod? Let’s connect!

We’d love to meet you, hear your story, and share how we can support your ministry and mission. The Pension Boards team will be available throughout Synod to go into the deep with you on supporting the future of ministry.
