In today’s economic climate, navigating your monthly cash flow and determining which bills to pay first can be stressful. As UCC ministers, lay workers, or caregivers, you may often find yourself working within a tight budget every month. Perhaps you are dealing with credit card debt, with debt collectors continually harassing you. Or you may be feeling overwhelmed about managing your debt with no way out in sight.
The Pension Boards understands these challenges and can help you navigate your finances with better ease. Have you considered financial counseling?
Through the Pension Boards’ partnership with LSS Financial Choice (LSS), a National Foundation of Credit Counseling (NFCC) non-profit organization, we offer you, our members a path forward through one-on-one financial counseling. All conversations you have with LSS counselor are free, confidential, and there is never a sales pitch. Plus, LSS Financial Choice counselors are experienced in working with clergy and those who serve the church to help them navigate their way out of debt.
What is a Debt Management Plan?
A Debt Management Plan is an agreement made between you and your creditors to pay off outstanding debt. You create a plan with a LSS Financial Choice counselor, consolidate your payments, then make one payment to LSS each month, and they send the funds to your creditors.

What are the Benefits of a Debt Management Plan?
There are a number of potential benefits from a Debt Management Plan, including:

Is There a Fee?
Your budget and debt counseling sessions with an LSS Financial Choice counselor are completely free. In fact, you and your immediate family members can access six counseling sessions a year. However, if you choose to start a non-profit Debt Management Plan, you will pay a small monthly fee to LSS until you complete or close the plan. LSS will waive the normal set-up fee ($50) for PBUCC members and their immediate family. Your LSS Financial Counselor will explain all your options and applicable fees during your counseling session.
